Preliminary Design
In this step, all of the elements of the design are pulled together and looked at in relation of one another. All of the design elements are taken into account here, as parts of a total environment. The preliminary design is usually done free-hand and show all of the elements of the design in a semi-realistic, illustrative fashion. After having finished the preliminary design, I meet with the client for feedback. Hopefully, the client will accept the design and I can process on to the master plan. If not, I will make the necessary revisions and meet again with the client.
The preliminary design would include:
- The property line
- Adjoining roads and street and other significant elements: buildings and such.
- Outline of all buildings and structures
- All major design elements of the site plan, may include proper graphic texture.
- Major use areas
- Materials of the design elements
- Plant materials
- Description or justification of special situations.
